We Protect Your Privacy Online

Renewal values and respects the privacy of our customers. We do not sell or rent your information to third parties. However, we do share your information with our partners to fulfill your request for financial services.

The Information We Collect

We collect sensitive information (such as your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, social security number, date of birth and mother's maiden name) that you may provide on questionnaires and other forms when you create an account with us, participate in a promotion or survey, or apply for financial services with one of our financial institution affiliates.

In addition to collecting information from you, our affiliates may also collect data from public sources (such as real estate and public records) and possibly credit bureaus to determine your eligibility for credit or other financial products.

We may disclose the collected information to our affiliates or business partners so they can offer and provide you with their products and/or services; Other financial services providers, such as credit bureaus, lenders, insurance companies and other companies with which we have joint agreements, or non-profit organizations and other third parties, as required or permitted by law or when you permit us to share information about you.

Renewal collects information from you in one or more of the following ways:

Cookies: Cookies are small pieces of information sent by us to be stored on your Internet browser which help us recognize you and better serve you when you visit our site. We use cookies for marketing (this allows us to present products and services that may be of interest to you), site personalization, web tracking, and online ordering. We do not use cookies to get data from your hard drive or to get or store your email address or personal identifying information. IP Addresses: When you enter our web site, you pass through a "firewall" we use for security purposes. The IP address does not identify you personally, but it does allow Renewal to identify the device you are using. We store IP addresses in case we ever need to track a connection to its point of origin for security reasons.

Online Forms and Applications: If you submit an application or form online, we will collect the information you send in an electronic database. This information includes the information you submit on the application or form as well as your IP address. We use this to help us process your request and as a security measure to protect against the loss, misuse, and the alteration of data used in our systems.

E-mail: When you send us an email we will use your email address to reply to you, and, for a limited time, we will store your email address, your message, and our response for quality assurance. We may also do this to meet legal and regulatory requirements. If we collect your email address in this manner, we won't use it to let you know about Renewal products and services unless you have given us permission, in which case we may let you know by email about other products and services which may be of interest to you. You may reply to any email message we send to you to tell us that you no longer wish to receive future messages from us in e-mail.

How does Renewal Use Your Information?

When you apply for a Renewal account, we use your information to process your request. We will also send you emails to confirm your request for services. Our affiliates may contact you via phone, postal mail or email if they determine that you meet their eligibility for financial and other services.

When you send your information to Renewal, you will be automatically signed up to receive email updates. If you participate in a contest or promotion, you may choose to receive email updates about our products, services, contests, and promotions.

If at any time you would like us to remove you from our email or postal mailing lists, you may to contact us via email or postal mail. Please be sure to include your email address, and your full name.

Sharing Your Information with Third Parties

We will not share your information with any third parties other than the financial affiliate(s) with which we have partnered. In that instance, the information will only be shared when you complete and submit a Renewal Sign-Up application and verify that the information provided is accurate and that you are legally authorized to provide it and that you have read and agree to the privacy statement. After indicating your agreement to these two factors, the information will then be shared with our financial affiliate(s). We may contract with third party affiliates to assist us in maintaining and managing our customer information to process applications and to communicate with our customers. We do not authorize any of those third parties to make any other use of your information.

Renewal's Security Safeguards

We will do the best we can to make sure your information is not compromised. Our security safeguards include:

  • Implementing up-to-date physical safeguards, such as passwords and encryption; and procedural safeguards, such as customer authentication procedures to prevent ID theft.
  • Restricting access to information about you to only those employees who need to know that information for business purposes.
  • Carefully selecting and monitoring the outside companies that we hire to perform services for us, such as mail vendors who send out our statements. We require them to keep customer information safe and secure, and do not allow them to use or share the information for any purpose other than the job they are hired to do.

What you can do to Protect Your Security

There are steps you can take to make sure your information is not compromised either. In order to protect your account against unauthorized access, it is vital that you do not share your password with anyone and that you exit any application when you have finished using it. Other key ways to protect your personal information include:

  • Never give your Social Security number or personal credit information over the phone or the Internet unless you initiate the communication. Keep your personal identification number (PIN) and password in a safe place. Try to memorize your PIN and password and do not write them down with your account information.
  • Destroy and/or securely store your account records. Tear or shred receipts, bank statements and unused credit card offers. Keep billing statements and other account related documents in a safe place.
  • Immediately report lost or stolen checks or credit cards.
  • Promptly review all monthly financial statements and immediately report any discrepancies.
  • Retain receipts from all ATM, debit and credit card transactions. When you're ready to dispose of them, make sure your account number is not readable.
  • Immediately sign new credit cards.
  • Report unusual telephone or e-mail inquiries or other suspicious activity to your phone company, financial institution or local law enforcement authorities.
  • Learn about the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and follow the tips for parents at the Federal Trade Commission's web site for children's privacy at We respect the privacy of your children, and we comply with the COPPA. We do not knowingly collect or retain personally identifiable information from individuals under the age of thirteen online.
  • Regularly review your credit report. Keeping your credit report error free is important. Order a copy of your credit report and report any mistakes to the credit bureau and the creditor reporting the information.
